#63 Tours with Intro.js

Adding a guided tour is a great way to showcase new features as seen in the animated gif below.

This is done using intro.js and there is an ember wrapper for it, which you can install with

You can then set up the steps in your controller

And add the component in your template

Hi Emad, I am on ember-cli-2.7.0 and having issue to install that add-on. I am getting this

    installing ember-introjs
The ember generate command requires an entity name to be specified. For more details, use ember help.
    ✘-1 ~/test [upgrade-2.0|✚ 4]

On which one did you use it?

    • What is the command you are typing? Include a full output or screenshot please that would help too.

      • Askar

        Just straight install.

        08:55 $ ember install ember-introjs
        installing ember-introjs
The ember generate command requires an entity name to be specified. For more details, use ember help.
        ✘-1 ~/test [upgrade-2.0|✚ 4]

        • Oops!!! According to https://github.com/thefrontside/ember-introjs/issues/11 they need help updating it to the latest version of ember. @disqus_ZlvNNUIciL:disqus good time to dig in and issue a PR :).

I will see if I can help over the weekend with a PR but if you can get to it first that would be great.

          • You might also want to consider an alternative addon – see http://www.emberdaily.com/2016/08/30/66-ember-shepherd

Yes, I tried that add-on. Two things came up. #1. When I attach to element by defining selector inside handlebars the theme-arrows gets disappeared. #2. Transition from one route to another will require some work. For me it got a bit clunky.

          • Askar

Yeah, 🙂 I will take a look then too. Just wanted to test really quick! Thanks for daily tips! Love them, they are shorts and concise!
